FDA warns China-made chicken jerky could cause Fanconi syndrome.  The FDA has issued a warning to consumers and veterinarians noting that chicken jerky products from China may be causing renal failure and Fanconi syndrome in dogs within hours or days of being ingested.  Most dogs recover, but some deaths have been reported.  The FDA is investigating the products but has not identified a contaminant.

Immiticide, the drug used to treat adult heart worm disease in dogs is on a back order with no product release date in sight.  This shortage makes it even more important that dogs take their heartworm pills. We have a treatment option, the slow kill of worms with Heartgard pills enhanced with the antibiotic doxycycline. We have had success with this treatment when the disease is mild and caught early. Severe cases need the injections and that drug is gone for now. Stay on the heartworm pills !!!

If you need to order heartworm products please contact our office at 704-717-7878, or order through your Pet Portal Our prices are competitive with online pharmacies.  You should also know that neither the drug manufacturer nor your veterinarian will stand behind a products guarantee if you purchase the product online.  If you would like a copy of the FDA warnings about online pharmacies please contact us.

For your convenience we are open at 7am  until 6pm Monday-Friday, and Saturdays for appointments only from 8am until noon.  Just call and make an appointment or use your pet portal to request an appointment or a drop off.

Perhaps your kitty’s exercise regimen consists of a mad dash around the house – a furry bullet dashing from room to room. Or possibly it’s jumping up on horizontal (and even vertical) surfaces, tearing up the carpets and furniture, or attacking your feet in the middle of the night.
